This paper aims to contribute to the discussion about the care and domestic work in Latin America, extending the concept of work. Through personal accounts, shows how women in Chile built part of their identities and stories through the care to others. The paper elaborates possibilities to understand from another point of view the production system, where social reproduction occupies a central place within the production lines. Using concepts from the sociology of gender, of feminist economics and of labor historiography, the text points out to understand the long term representations of cultural care in Chile.
