GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TARIFFS AND TRADE 1994

CERTIFICATION OF MODIFICATIONS AND RECTIFICATIONS TO

SCHEDULE XVIII – SOUTH AFRICA

TRANSMISSION OF CERTIFIED TRUE COPY

 WHEREAS the CONTRACTING PARTIES to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1947 adopted, on 26 March 1980, a Decision on Procedures for Modification and Rectification of Schedules of Tariff Concessions (BISD 27S/25);

 WHEREAS in accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned Decision, a draft containing modifications and rectifications to Schedule XVIII – South Africa was communicated to all Members of the World Trade Organization in document G/MA/TAR/RS/524 of 2 March 2018, in light of the Ministerial Decision on Export Competition ( WT/MIN(15)/45 and WT/L/980 );

WHEREAS no objections to the proposed modifications and rectifications were received within three months from the date of issue of the aforementioned document, and South Africa has completed its domestic procedures, as notified in a letter dated 29 November 2018 and circulated to Members in document G/MA/TAR/RS/524/Add.2 of 4 December 2018, and as foreseen in documentG/MA/TAR/RS/524/Add.1 and G/MA/TAR/RS/568 of 10 July 2018;

 IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED that the modifications and rectifications to Schedule XVIII – South Africa are established in conformity with the above-mentioned Decision.

 The annexed Schedule is effective as of 29 November 2018.

 I hereby furnish a certified true copy of the above-mentioned modifications and rectifications to each Member of the World Trade Organization. This certification shall be registered in accordance with the provisions of Article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations.
