[경제] CEMAC Quarterly Economic Barometer : Vol 3 - Q4

아프리카ㆍ 중동 일반 국외연구자료 연구보고서 - World Bank 발간일 : 2022-04-30 등록일 : 2022-06-17 원문링크

The economic recovery in the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (Communauté Économique et Monétaire de l’Afrique Centrale, CEMAC) has been weak amid modest hydrocarbon production. Higher oil prices have not prevented deficits in the region’s overall fiscal and external balances. Sustained high oil prices linked to the war in Ukraine could represent a windfall to oil-producing countries, with possible spillovers on countries’ domestic demand. On the downside, the war is projected to translate into higher food inflation raising concerns over food insecurity in the region. The special topic section of this CEMAC Quarterly Economic Barometer (QEB) looks into inflation dynamics in CEMAC. In line with previous studies, the authors find commodity prices and domestic demand pressures play only a minor role in explaining inflation fluctuations in the region, which in turn can be explained by the exchange rate peg and government policies such as large subsidies and price control.
